The Alchemist

Updated: Apr 30, 2020

Paolo Coelho’s The Alchemist is not an easy read, it is a very complex piece of work with words intricately woven into the patchwork, though initially it may seem very simple. However, once you read between the lines and understand the depth and meaning of each and every word, you will come to understand that the book carries the weight of the universe.

It is a fable about a boy, Santiago, who follows his dreams and listens to his heart, deciphering omens on his journey to find the hidden treasure. The book talks about concepts like the soul of the world and personal legends which are notations too enigmatic to comprehend in a single read. The book requires resilience and perseverance to be fully unraveled.

It was quite a heavy read for us as well but we thoroughly enjoyed it. There are lessons in this book that are salient for us to understand. Totally recommend it to anyone and everyone!

Rating: 4.5/5

“And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”

“When we love, we always strive to become better than we are. When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too.”

“The simple things are also the most extraordinary things, and only the wise can see them.”

“People are capable, at any time in their lives, of doing what they dream of.”
