⚒The Legend series by Marie Lu is a young adult dystopian fiction novel set in a futuristic world, where the United States of America is divided into two main regions of power, The Republic and The Colonies.The story centers around Day and June, in the fortified city if Los Angeles.
⚒June comes from an elite military family and is brought up by her brother Metias, as she had lost her parents several years before the story takes place. She is The Republic’s prodigy, for being the only person to score full marks on the Trials, an extensive test carried out on all children at the age of ten, that evaluates your physical and mental capabilities. But in an unfortunate incident, where she looses the person she cherishes the most, her world is turned upside down, and now she is out to seek revenge.
⚒Day on the other hand was born in the ghettos of The Republic to an under-privileged family and is a fugitive continuously on the run. His family believes him to be dead and he intends to keep it that way. Until, the grave disease called The Plague that is slowly but steadily wreaking havoc over the lands, infects Day’s younger brother Eden. He must now steal the medicine he cannot afford and be discovered or let his brother succumb to the disease.
⚒June and Day’s paths cross on the streets of the place they both call home, and even if at first it may seem that they are on opposite sides, the inevitable truth is that they both share the same goal: vengeance.

For this series, we really loved the first and last book, especially the epilogue of the last book ‘cause it made us cry buckets😭. We took our time reading these books as we found them a little daunting at first, seeing as they were set in the future, but once we sat down with the intent to read them all in one go, we instantly fell in love!😍 We aren’t huge fans of books set in the future, but this definitely was an exception!
PROS: It has lover to haters trope, probably one of our favorites! Plus the writing is absolutely fantastic, you never get bored, everything is very well explained and the details and character developments are splendid!
CONS: There are no prominent cons, just that the second book became a bit dragged and the story wasn’t evolving much. But the third book was so fast paced it made up for it!
